March 14th is Pi Day – 3/14. Get it?! How many digits of π can you remember?! Don’t worry if you only remember up to two digits; you can still celebrate the day!
If you are too tired to bake your own pie, why not indulge yourself with a cheese pizza instead and share it with your coworkers, friends, and family? According to C2ER Cost-of-Living Index’s 2023 Annual Average data, the national average for a pizza pie was $12.14. Ten cities sold it for under $10, most of which were in the southern part of the country.
The table below shows the 10 cities that sold the most expensive medium plain cheese pizza in 2023. Kodiak, AK took the top rank, likely due to the high cost of shipping all the ingredients there. Eight of the most expensive locations were on the West Coast, with five in California, followed by Washington state.
Surprisingly, New York did not come up as the most OR least expensive – it stands right in the middle, priced at $13.03, and is recognized as one of the best pizza destinations in the US! So now you have a sense of the national pizza price if you want to celebrate Pi Day with cheese pizzas. It’s lucky for you if you live in a city that sells one of the cheapest, but don’t feel bad if your city is on the second table, either: after all, if pizza is that important to you, maybe consider moving from Kodiak to Cleveland? Either way, enjoying the moment is the most important part of the day!
