The Cost of Living Index relies on volunteers like you.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo is the third least expensive urban area in which to live in America, according to the Council for Community and Economic Research, or C2ER.
The Virginia-based organization compiled a list of the 10 most and least expensive urban areas around the United State in the Cost of Living Index (COLI).
The COLI “is based on six component categories – housing, utilities, grocery items, transportation, health care, and miscellaneous goods and services” according to a release from C2ER.
“So given the amenities in the area, residents and businesses are able to have a good value for living there and your money is able to go further,” Jennie Allison, C2ER’s program manager, said.
Kalamazoo ranks just behind Harlingen, Texas, and McAllen, Texas.
