Kalamazoo ranked third least expensive city to live in

Kalamazoo is the third least expensive urban area in which to live in America, according to the Council for Community and Economic Research, or C2ER.

The Virginia-based organization compiled a list of the 10 most and least expensive urban areas around the United State in the Cost of Living Index (COLI).

The COLI “is based on six component categories – housing, utilities, grocery items, transportation, health care, and miscellaneous goods and services” according to a release from C2ER.

“So given the amenities in the area, residents and businesses are able to have a good value for living there and your money is able to go further,” Jennie Allison, C2ER’s program manager, said.

Kalamazoo ranks just behind Harlingen, Texas, and McAllen, Texas.
